President Obama's commission has recommended that Social Security benefits be cut by as much as 22% over time, a reduction of more than $50,000 for the average recipient.  President Obama and Congress may act soon to make these recommendations into law.

Before Americans agree to a 22% cut in our Social Security benefits, it's important that we understand the facts behind Social Security; to judge for ourselves whether these cuts are truly needed, or if these cuts are yet another gimmick for diverting money to special interests.

Here are the straight facts that show how Social Security's fiscal health is excellent, and will continue to be excellent for many years to come without benefit cuts.
